The end of an era....

I have to admit as today's game ended there were tears in my eyes. It may seem silly for me to be so emotional over Trey's high school football career being over, but it is also the end of an era for our family. I can't even remember when the boys began playing football, it was so long ago! I've seen them play pee wee football, middle school football and high school football. When we lived in Marshall and even since we have been gone, I have always loved dressing up in my orange and black and cheering the Marshall Tiger's on to victory. Our amazing brothers Clay and Trey were such a huge impact on the Marshall team and the team was as good as they were because of them. They were both great leaders and tough out on the field. Every time Trey's name is announced over the radio, I can't help but smile. He is all about the game and he rocks that football field every time he steps foot on it. They had some more really nice things to say during today's game, and I wanted to share it with you once again....

Trey Welch
  • "is one of the toughest guys in the business"
  • "that's what you are looking for---that little spark, and Trey's got it"
  • "has done most of the damage against Hutch"
  • Coach Baumann said "There has been a #1 Welch on the team since I've been here. Trey is definitely gonna be missed. He is a tough, hard nosed kid and he adds a lot of character to our team. He competed hard today."

The announcers also said about the team in general....

  • "The Tigers did a heck of a job. They dominated in the 3rd quarter and outscored in the 4th quarter."
  • "This Tiger team is extra special--especially because of the seniors. They are a very special class."
  • "We can't even tell you how much we are gonna miss these seniors."

We are so proud of you Trey and all of your hard work. Anything you put your mind to, we know you can do it! And I guess if you decide not to play in college, then I'll just have to patiently wait till we can outfit Lennon in some football gear! Go Tigers! We love you Trey!

I can't believe it! I remember back when the boys played in TX and I was cheerleading for Bubba, and in Utah when Trey was named 'Monster' :) It really has been a ride! Thanks for letting us be a part of it Trey! Love you!

It has been amazing 14 years of football and I am so impressed not only with their awesome athletic abilities but the great leadership skills our boys exhibited. The coach has shared with me how sad he is that after his 5 years in Marshall next year he won't have a Welch as #1! Trey has been so fun to watch, just when you think he is down he breaks through the tackles still running. And WOW can he hit.
He wasn't nicknamed "Monster" as a pee wee football player for nothing;) Love ya tons and tons Tex!<3

What a great season and amazing high school career Tex! You have always played with a lot of enthusiasm and always left everything on the field. I guess that's why you had to drink so much pickle juice this year:) I'm so proud of you and what great leadership you demonstrated. It will really be hard not having a #1 to cheer for. Love Dad

We had so much fun getting to go to your games and cheer for you (as well as yelling at the refs and anyone who got in the way of my awesome shots!). You are an amazing leader and a smart player and we will always be members of the Trey Welch fan club. Love ya!
